The Habitation Samana Beauséjour is an old farmhouse rich in history. The current owners have preserved and restored this 19th century colonial house built with local wood.

• Sanitation. 2 mini water treatment plants have been installed to treat wastewater and to reject a 96% pure water;

• Drinking water. The city water is filtered with activated carbon and treated with UV. An additional osmosis unit ensures that the water is free of viruses, bacteria, pesticides, micro-plastics, heavy metals and endocrine disruptors;

• rainwater is collected, filtered and then used to water the garden, toilets and washing machines;

• waste separation. A compost and sorting bins have enabled the establishment to reduce the remaining waste to one 50-liter trash bag per week.

• Several species of fruit trees have been planted: coffee, cocoa, avocado, vanilla and lemon trees.

Solar panels will soon be installed to move towards energy autonomy of the establishment and no longer depend on coal and gas power plants.
