Jour 3 / Tbilisi - Ananouri - Kazbégui - Jouta

Departure to the Great Caucasus - Kazbegui. Crossing the Cross Pass (2300 meters) we admire breathtaking views of the northern mountains. On the way, visit of Ananuri fortresses with picturesque views of Jinvali water dam. Arrival at Stepantsminda, the administrative center of the region. Here we hike to the Trinity Church of Gergetia (14th century) located next to Mount Kazbek. The hike takes about 2 hours, 6 km. Suggestion: ride a horse or a car (upon request). Lunch with a local family. The hostess of the family shows us how to prepare the traditional mokhevian dish Khinkali.After the hike, departure to the village Jouta - one of the highest (2200 m) and most beautiful villages of the Caucasus. From the center of the village we start our short hike (about 2-3 hours) to a small lake with the panorama of Chaoukhi mountains (3842 m). We return to the center of the campsite located in the middle of the mountains, with a view of the Chaoukhi massif.

Departure to the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Iberia (Eastern Georgia) - Mtskheta and its UNESCO sites: visit of the Svetitskhoveli cathedral (means "life-giving column") dating from the 11th century and the monastery of Djvari ("cross") (4th century) standing on a cliff above the confluence of two rivers - Aragvi and Mtkvari. Lunch in a local restaurant.Departure to Ateni valley located in Chida Kartli region (Central Georgia), with untouched nature and small exotic villages. the Pu Luong Reserve. With a variety of flora and fauna and the harmony 
of several biosystems: limestone reliefs, mountains, rice terraces and 
forests, Pu Luong is a great destination if you are looking for an 
unspoiled nature spot.

Walk through the rice fields (7km, ~3h walk, elevation gain +150m). 
Crossing of small rivers. Hike on the old Ho Chi Minh trail towards the 
village of Dong Dieng. Unlike the Sapa region, here you will not get the
 feeling that tourism is taking the place of agriculture. All the 
farmers work their land to grow rice, bananas, corn, sugar cane and 
cabbage. In the Pu Luong Reserve, there is only one rice season per 
year. The transplanting of rice takes place in April-May. The rice 
fields turn dark green in June-July-August. In September, the rice 
fields start to turn golden all over. Between the end of September and 
October, the rice is harvested. With the development of sustainable 
tourism, the life of Pu Luong Reserve goes on, and that’s fine!

Lunch includedIn the afternoon, continue up a small limestone
 track to the village of Kho Muong (4km, ~2h walk). Tucked away at the 
bottom of a valley, Kho Muong village is inaccessible by car. Currently,
 there are only two host families willing to receive visitors. Free time

Afternoon transfer to Ninh Binh region (140km, ~3h). In this 
province, the Red River spreads out its last arms before the sea, in a 
surprising landscape of cliffs, limestone peaks and karst caves. That’s

The morning is dedicated to a bike ride through the rice fields 
(about 5km). During this ride, we first visit the Jade Cave Pagoda where
 there are three pagodas and a monastery built in the 17th century. Then
 it is the Hang Mua pagoda. To get there, you have to climb 450 steps 
and at the top of a hill, you will have the best view of the whole area.

Afternoon, three-hour boat trip to Trang An, a UNESCO listed site. A 
real open-air geological museum, it is a strange marriage between the 
typical limestone mounts of the plain and those of the coast.

Night at Nguyen Shack Ninh Binh (nguyenshack.com/ninhbinh/)

Morning departure for Nam Dinh Province, the stronghold of Vietnamese
 Catholicism. This region is particularly marked by the Christian faith.
 The origin of this dynamism comes from the 117 martyrs of the 19th 
century who shed their blood without denying their faith. All of them 
have been canonised by Pope John Paul II. Among them, there are 6 
Frenchmen. Stop en route to visit the Phat Diem cathedral, an 
architectural jewel of the Vietnamese Church. Today, the parish is 
composed of 5000 faithful. Phat Diem is a unique Vietnamese-style 
cathedral, whose stone buildings are built on a swampy area. The main 
sanctuary appears as a Buddhist pagoda due to its Asian architectural 
style. Then, via a path dotted with canals, ferry transfers, we cross 
this Nam Dinh Province, also one of the cradles of rice cultivation in 
North Vietnam. We will head to Mr.Van’s house, where we will sleep 
tonight. The accommodation at Mr.Van’s is part of our community tourism 
project. Set up in 2016 by ourselves, this project aims to introduce you
 to the cradle of Vietnamese culture, based on rice farming. We have 
chosen a host family that represents a very typical model of the 
Vietnamese countryside. On arrival, Mr.Van, the head of the family will 
serve you a welcome tea typical of the region. Afterwards, he will show 
you the family chapel dedicated to ancestor worship and his 4,000 square
 meters bonsai garden. He will be delighted to show you his beautiful 
bonsai collection and the secret techniques behind each work of art. 
Bonsai plays a very important role in Vietnamese homes as its presence 
brings happiness and balance to the living space.Lunch at Mr.Van’s houseIn
 the afternoon, we discover the surroundings. Not far from Mr.Van’s 
house, you can discover the distillation techniques of rice alcohol at 
Mr.Tuc’s. This liquor of about 30 degrees is widespread in North Vietnam
 and is used at the table when we receive guests. Afterwards, we drive 
to the coast to visit a seafood market.Return to Mr.Van in the late afternoon.In
 the evening, you will participate in the preparation of the meal, with 
several ingredients that are grown in the family’s garden. This is an 
opportunity to discover regional specialties (depending on the season) 
such as: Tôm Thuy?n (sea cicely) , Nem Thính cu?n lá sung (pork lard 
wrapped with fig leaf).

In the morning, it’s the initiation to bonsai techniques with Mr.Van.
 Then, we leave for Hai Minh village, specialized in woodcarving. The 
village was founded in the late 19th century and has hundreds of family 
factories. We visit a workshop that shows the manufacturing process and a
 beautiful collection of products (decorative accessories, 
mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture, cult objects, gold lacquered statues, 
etc.). The walk continues along paths with a bucolic charm. From here, 
you will easily spot Catholic churches scattered behind hedges of areca 
trees and rice fields as far as the eye can see. We head to the Red 
River estuary where several family fish sauce businesses are located. We
 learn about the fermentation process of this national sauce.

Seafood lunchAfternoon drive to Hai Phong city (120km, ~2h)

In the evening, with an inhabitant of Hai Phong city, we do a culinary tour of the city

Departure to Pha got port (150km, ~3h) attached to Hai Phong city. 
From there, a short ferry transfer takes us to the left bank of Cat Ba 
Island (our car also boards the ferry). Then the car drives around Cat 
Ba island before going to Ben Beo pier. Around noon, you board a junk 
boat for a two-day cruise in Lan Ha Bay, a geological extension of 
Halong Bay. Please note that our English speaking guide will stay at the
 quay and pick you up the next day at noon.Lan Ha Bay is an 
alternative to the already very touristy and polluted Halong Bay. To 
give you an idea: Halong Bay is 700 boats, most of which are floating 
hotels (18 – 36 cabins) and 5 million tourists (including 2 million 
Chinese). Cat Ba Island is home to 70 boats, most of which are small 
(02-06 cabins) and 400,000 tourists (mainly Vietnamese holidaymakers). 
Sailing to the floating village of Ben Beo. Hundreds of wooden houses 
painted in different bright colours can be seen on the horizon and there
 are water farms everywhere. The structures float on the water thanks to
 a system of plastic drums that serve as buoys.The boat stops in a quiet place for lunch.In
 the afternoon, we continue to a kayak station. For an hour, we paddle 
along the sugar loaves and then the tunnels. (NOTE: if you are not 
comfortable with kayaking, the boat staff will be available to either 
accompany you or paddle for you). The rock formations here are given 
rather fanciful names. The tunnel we pass through is called the Cave of 
Darkness. Just like in the movies, we enter a 100-metre long corridor, 
accessible only by kayak at low tide. Plunged in the dark, we hear the 
sound of bats and then suddenly we enter a kind of closed lagoon. The 
serenity of the place and the immensity of the steep cliffs surround us.
 We anchor in a place sheltered from the wind.D?ner seafood.Overnight
 on board (NOTE: you can put all your luggage in the boat’s cabin. The 
average size of the cabins is around 16m2. After disembarking the next 
day, all your luggage will be transferred back to our private car)

Depending on the weather conditions, the boat captain may decide on two options for the morning:

The second day of sailing starts with a deserted beach. Bear in mind 
that it’s not too difficult to find a beach lined with white sand around
 the ?le of Cat Ba. The captain is a local so he knows every little 
beach hidden behind the karst formations. Back at Ben Beo pier, the boat
 stops at a floating fish farm. In fact it is more of a marine police 
station and the fish farm is a side activity that provides additional 
income. The floating cages are classified according to the age and type 
of fish. The farming technique is set up to ensure a more stable 
production than fishing in the open sea, which is very dependent on 
weather conditions.

Option 2: Discover the right side of Cat Ba Island by bikeWe
 disembark at the port of Viet Hai. From there, we get on a bike (or 
electric shuttle at your expense) and go for a ride (5km, 30mn) towards 
Viet Hai village. Tucked away at the bottom of a green valley, the 
village was established in the early 1990s to retain the forestry guard.
 In the village, the guide will explain the issues of the Cat Ba 
National Reserve, where many animals are endangered. You will also visit
 a rice alcohol factory. Return to Viet Hai port in the late morning

Day 2 / Discovery of the cultural riches and the most beautiful temples of the “City of Angels”

Bangkok, also called “Krung Thep” by locals, rarely disappoints. This
 thanks to the multitude of activities that it invites the traveler to 
undertake. Are you a history buff? The capital offers a variety of 
historic buildings and ancient temples to visit.&nbsp;

After your breakfast, around 9 am, your local guide will pick you up 
from your hotel for a memorable day exploring Bangkok. During this day, 
you will have the opportunity to visit the city in all its splendor. You
 will discover almost all the modes of transport that Bangkok offers to 
its visitors: walking (between 4 and 5 km), ferry boat on the river, Sky
 Train and Taxi.&nbsp;

You will start by visiting the splendid Royal Palace, also called the
 “Grand Palais”. This set of monuments, built-in 1782 by King Rama I, 
houses, among others, Wat Phra Kaew and its magnificent Emerald Buddha. 
Its majestic architecture and the finesse of each decorative mosaic will
 amaze you. Follow in the footsteps of successive generations of kings 
and discover the grandeur of the ancient kingdom of Siam.&nbsp;

After a delicious lunch in a local restaurant, you will descend the 
river by boat: a dream opportunity to contemplate local life and ancient
 temples. You will then reach via the “Sky train”, the Silk Museum and 
the Jim Thompson House.

Then you will reach the “Mountain of Gold” (also known as Wat Saket) 
and its 318 steps. This temple built at the end of the 18th century is 
located in the city’s historic district. It is one of the oldest temples
 in Bangkok. It was renamed by King Rama I: Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha 
Wihan.&nbsp;

Then you will leave towards the majestic Wat Pho. It is one of the 
oldest temples in Thailand. Its construction started in the 16th century
 and only finished 200 years later. Also called the “Temple of the 
Reclining Buddha,” it is one of the most famous Buddhist temples for 
tourists.&nbsp;

At the end of this day full of discoveries, you will be escorted back to your hotel at the end of the afternoon.&nbsp;

Night at Bangkok Tree House, a 4-star hotel.&nbsp;

This excursion by bike and then by boat lasts 5 hours. It will unveil
 the authentic Bangkok to you, discovering the bustling streets of 
Chinatown with its quiet and forgotten plantations. Between these two 
landscapes, you will explore the “Venice of the Orient” by “longtail 
boat,” and you will savor a delicious Thai meal.&nbsp;

You will discover all the wonders that the city of Bangkok has to 
offer as you browse the frenetic Chinatown Market. You will pedal 
quietly in the heart of the narrow alleys and the small side streets. 
You will cross the river on a local boat to arrive at the Bangkok

for your bike ride in Bangkok with your guide (distance of 15 km, in a

Our guide will make you discover the village of her family, where her
 husband grew up with his parents. Like family members, you will be 
welcomed in one of the last Karen tribes: authentic, not reconstruction 
for tourists.&nbsp;

Here no tourists, no voyeurism, only a unique experience with the locals.&nbsp;

This morning your guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive 
you first to Chom Tong to discover the local market and traditional 
dishes.&nbsp;

After that, you will join your place of stay to present the village 
and the family with whom you will spend the night. You will have the 
honor of enjoying a traditional meal in the company of your hosts.&nbsp;

The afternoon will be devoted to visiting the magnificent rice fields
 and the surrounding area. You will then discover a small local store, a
 Christian village, a school in the valley, and various plantations. You
 will then return to the town to share a privileged moment with the 
inhabitants.

Depending on the availability and the weather, various activities 
will be offered to you such as Thai boxing, weaving, a snack with the 
Karen people, removing the bran from the rice, helping the villagers in 
their various daily tasks, looking for food for dinner (bamboo shoots, 
insects, different plants, roots, etc.).&nbsp;

When it comes time for dinner, you can also watch the Karens cook and
 help them before sharing a typically delicious meal altogether. During 
this evening, you will then have the opportunity to share much more with
 the Karen people. You will bond with this indigenous population in a 
warm and family atmosphere, a magical and unforgettable moment!&nbsp;

Day 6 / Scenic trails, farmland and northern tribes

This morning, you will be entitled to a typical breakfast in the village.&nbsp;

Then you will go for a walk in the surrounding countryside. You will 
thus discover all the different cultures that this Karen community takes
 care of. This village lives mainly on rice, cabbage, and onions which 
punctuate the year and change the landscape according to the seasons. It
 is, in particular, the rice terraces that take up the most&nbsp;

space in the landscape. These rice fields require more work from the 
peasants because of their geographical location in the mountains.

Here, you can fully immerse yourself in nature and all the splendid 
and romantic landscapes that will be offered to you. Lush greenery in 
ancient mystical mountains. Don’t forget to take pictures to remember 
those precious moments.&nbsp;

You will then return to the village for the last lunch with your host family.&nbsp;

In the afternoon, your guide will bring you back to city life while 
concocting a little journey filled with surprises. For example, he will 
show you around a small temple hidden in the jungle and much more.&nbsp;

Day 6 / From the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater

You continue to explore the Serengeti and observe its fascinating 
wildlife. You may be lucky enough to see a well-hidden predator like a 
cheetah or a leopard …

At the time determined by your driver-guide, you set off back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 7 / Trekking on Ngorongoro Highlands 

After breakfast you take off for a full day’s hike through the plains
 of the Ngorongoro Highlands. On your hike, you get a good look at the 
traditional Maasai way of life, their bomas and their cattle herds. If 
you look close enough, you may see some cattle herds that are actually 
mixed with wild zebras.

At an agreed location, your drive meets you and drives you to 
Empakaai Crater, where you have a wonderful view of the forests that 
line its flanks and the flocks of flamingos on its lake.

In the morning, you 
drive to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. You enjoy the abundance and
 variety of wildlife in the crater – among them all Big Five. Expect to 
see zebras and wildebeests, meet some lions and with some luck glimpse 
at the rare rhinos.

After breakfast you make a guided walk to explore the village and see
 some of the activities like their local brew, their traditional ways of

 through a tea plantation, cross the pickers*, watch the leaf weighing, 
visit a community of tea workers with its school, nursery, dispensary, 
and religious shrines. In the afternoon, you can relax at the hotel or 
continue your tour of the area with a lovely walk to the top of Little 
Adam’s Peak**, where the view is spectacular and you can continue your 
discovery of the area by walking to the Bridge of the Nine Arches, an 
architectural feat made solely of stone, bricks, and cement. With a 
little luck, you could take the mythical photo of the train passing on 
this spectacular viaduct!

In the morning, you
