At HI Poitiers Youth Hostel, you'll receive a warm welcome and feel right at home in your room. With no less than 34 rooms, you will have a wide choice of : 

• A shared room with 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 beds

A room for 2 or 3 people 

The shared rooms are single sex and the bathrooms and toilets are shared.

At the end or the beginning of a day of exploration, the hostel will be a real place to relax. A little away from the city, you can relax with a book in hand in the wooded park next to the hostel. Borrow the barbecue or go to the lounge-bar to share a convivial moment with the other residents. In the fully equipped kitchen, you can prepare your own meals...or trust the caterer that the youth hostel uses to prepare its recipes based on organically grown products.

Poitier is a city full of history in the heart of Poitou, and is one of the stages of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route. It is also surrounded by natural sites. The city will seduce all visitors looking for a destination off the beaten track by offering a range of activities that will delight everyone.

• The Marais Poitevin : Also known as the "Venise Verte", this regional nature park is a must-see. On foot or by bike, the greenery of this unique place will enchant you. For an unforgettable moment, rent a boat or a kayak for a trip along the water. To reach the Poitevin marshland in a more sustainable way, opt for the train, and reach Niort in 1 hour. 

• The historic center of Poitiers : The old city is full of medieval treasures. Start with the most impressive monument: - the church Notre-Dame-la-Grande. Built in the 12th century, the details of its sculptures are remarkably well preserved. - The baptistery of St. John is one of the oldest Christian buildings in Europe. In it are hidden Romanesque paintings and Merovingian sarcophagi. - Finally, let's go to the palace of the Counts of Poitou. This former place of power captivates visitors with its stained glass windows and towers, all particularly well preserved. Today, the palace hosts several cultural events. 

The city of Poitiers is a true medieval jewel, which is not yet a victim of mass tourism. The region is well worth a visit, as it is surrounded by beautiful natural areas.
